Prodimex Group farms implement modern grain storage technologies

February 15, 2023
The technology of storing grain in polyethylene bags is relatively new and it’s beneficial for producers since no special facilities needed. Dried grain can be packed in so called silo bags placed on a flat surface. For producers there are also logistics benefits – no need to pay for transporting and storing grain at the elevator.
Prodimex Group Elan-Agro farm from the Voronezh region used this technology for the first time this season and laid barley and wheat in the silo bags for storage. On January 24, the first bag with seed barley was opened. According to experts the barley is in excellent condition, there is no rotten grain although the silo bags were installed directly on the ground and last autumn was extremely wet.
1,600 tons of seed barley as well as about 1,400 tons of seed wheat were stored in the bags. Elan-Agro plans to transport up to 500 tons per day. The final destination is Talovsky seed plant of Prodimex Group where the grain will be processed and packaged and then used by Prodimex farms as seed material. This successful experience is going to be extended to other Prodimex agricultural enterprises.
