Prodimex Group is one of the largest vertically integrated agro-industrial and food processing holdings. It is the largest sugar and crop manufacturer in Russia.

Our history

Prodimex was founded in 1992 as a raw sugar and white sugar importer. In 1996-1998 we focused on sugar production, at this period the first sugar plants were purchased. More than 20 years ago we started producing sugar from our own sugar beet. During these years we have been number one in sugar industry in Russia. For 10 years we have been working in diverse brunches of agribusiness. We’ve made a lot and keep moving forward.

2021–2016

Towards new horizons

— increase in the gross harvest of cereals, legumes and oilseeds to 1.8 million tons

— expansion of the land bank over 900 thousand hectares

— with the launch of grain elevator in Penza region in 2020 our own capacities of grain storage exceeded 1 million tons

— updating of the machine and tractor fleet

— launch of high-tech seed plants

— implementation of sustainability principles

2015–2011

We massively invest in agribusiness 

— acquisition of arable land in Voronezh and Kursk regions and significant yield rise

— in 2015 the farms produced more than 1 million tons of grains, legumes and oilseeds

— digital technologies in agribusiness — digital management program and "Prodimex-GIS"

— machinery park upgrade

2010–2006

Modernization of acquired assets

— large-scale reconstruction of Voronezh and Kursk sugar refineries

— expanding sugar storage capacities

— shutdown of several enterprises and increase of total production capacity

— launch of the first molasses desugarization plant in Russia

— in 2006 the volumes of own sugar beet reached 1 million tons

— in 2011 Prodimex refineries produced more than 1 million tons of sugar

— expansion of cultivated areas in Voronezh, Penza, Krasnodar and Stavropol regions as well as in Bashkortostan Republic


2005–2000

Acquisition of production capacities

— 23 sugar refineries were purchased

— elaboration of integrated production chain from sugar beet cultivation to sugar production

— acquisition of the first farm in 2001 and expanding of cultivated areas for sugar beet


1999–1996

Raw sugar import

— company becomes the largest raw sugar importer, in 1999 import volumes exceeded 1 million tons

— sugar refining within tolling agreements in unrelated refineries

— acquisition of the first sugar plant

1995–1992

— contracts with world largest sugar traders — ED& Man, Marc Rich&Co (Glencore) and Sucden among others

Locations

Prodimex controls land bank of more than 900 thousand ha  in 8 Russian regions – Voronezh, Belgorod, Kursk, Lipetsk, Tambov, Penza, Krasnodar and Stavropol regions. Our farms grow wheat, barley, peas, corn, sunflower, rapeseed, soybeans, flax and sugar beets.

The company owns 10 elevators, total storage capacity is more than 1 million tones of grains, legumes and oilseeds.

Sugar beets grown by Prodimex farms cover major needs of the company’s 14 sugar refineries.

The Prodimex Group head office is located in Moscow.
