Prodimex becomes a mentor for schoolchildren

Prodimex Group together with Timiryazev Agricultural academy arranged an event for schoolchildren who are interested in agriculture. The grade 4 students of school No.1748 had the opportunity to feel like real students and immersed into the modern agronomy at the Prodimex educational center.
The guests of the center were greeted by Dmitry Ryabov, Director of the Academy’s Institute of Agrobiotechnologies. First he spoke about the academy and then offered assistance in acquiring of the necessary knowledge to those of pupils who see themselves in future in agricultural area. He underlined that former and current academy graduates contribute hugely to the development of Russian agricultural industry .
Associate Professor of the Department of Crop Production and Meadow Ecosystems Anastasia Konstantinovich demonstrated on the interactive model of the sugar plant how the sugar beet is processed and sugar, which we use every day is produced. The process of sugar production impressed the children so much that the teacher had to allocate extra time for a Q&A session.
Later the children participated in master class «Bread is the head of everything», where they learned to distinguish between cereals used in bread baking. PhD in agricultural science Sergey Zapivalov introduced them different grain crops. As a result of the class the schoolchildren not only know the names of various cereals and the products made from them but also have valuable knowledge about which cereals are the crops of the future. At the end of the master class the children tasted different types of bread.
Alexandra Shitikova, Head of the Department of Crop Production and Meadow Ecosystems told the schoolchildren about the scientific experiments carried out by the academy students in the phytoclass of the educational center of Prodimex Group. There are special conditions of illumination, temperature and humidity for growing plants at any time of the year, and university students can set up their own experiments in the phytoclass.
We are sure that after this visit the schoolchildren will appreciate the value agricultural labour and learn more about agricultural professions.
