Prodimex announced the results of sugar beet processing in the season 2022 - 2023

The season 2022-2023 was not an easy one for Prodimex Group sugar plants. The first processing was launched at «Stavropolsakhar» plant and the last enterprise completed the process was the Elan-Kolenovskiy sugar plant in the Voronezh region. In total the campaign lasted 165 days.
There were schedule disruptions due to bad weather conditions and some plants were forced to reduce daily productivity and some had to suspend the work for short periods. In December and January the harvesting of beets and storaging them in piles took place at sub-zero temperatures. Unstable weather and temperature fluctuations led to repeated freezing and thawing of the beets. This affected the sugar content of the crop and resulted in damage of upper layers of the beet. With a large amount of waste the impurities removal system struggled with the process. The beets entering the processing lines had different quality which complicated the juices extraction. The consumption of auxiliary materials also increased.
Nevertheless the sugar plants and agricultural enterprises of Prodimex Group achieved an outstanding result processing almost 10 million tons of sugar beets, of which more than 7 million tons were self-grown. More than 1.2 million tons of sugar and more than 370 thousand tons of granulated pulp have been produced. These figures are much higher that the forecasted ones for the season.
The refining season is now over and the plants have started scheduled maintenance work in preparation for the upcoming campaign. Olkhovatsky Sugar Plant continues processing the syrup.
