Prodimex took part in an international agricultural conference

March 12
The “Where’s the Margin” conference was held in Moscow, bringing together agricultural producers and suppliers of production inputs and services for the agricultural sector, producers of material and technical resources, traders and food companies, financiers, government officials and many others. It has been held by the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies every year since 2009.

The conference’s business program consisted of 11 thematic sessions at which experts and company heads gave 37 talks and presentations with fresh cases and industry expertise on the most pressing problems of agribusiness in the country and the world. Session topics included: “Russian Agri-Food Markets: Status and Prospects”, “Grain, Oilseeds, Sugar, Vegetables, Milk, Meat. Prospects for Niche Crops” and many others.

Prodimex Group was represented at the conference by Alexey Ugarov, General Director of the management company Prodimex Agro. He moderated the session “Import Substitution in Seed Production — First Results and Problems”.

Recall that in a recent interview the same topical issue was commented on by Deputy CEO of Prodimex Group Vadim Eryzhensky. “Increasing both the production of our own hybrids and their use in the fields is not the simplest task. But there are already results. We are one of two (!) participants in the federal sugar beet seed breeding project. That is, we are developing our own hybrids and producing our own seeds, though not yet as many as the market requires,” Vadim Igorevich said.

By 2030 the Group plans to reach the 50% import substitution level set by a government resolution. It is important not only to increase volumes. The main thing is that in quality these hybrids meet market demands and the sugar extraction technologies that have already been mastered, so as ultimately to obtain high-sugar beet with specific parameters.
